Power Yoga New York FAQs

What should I bring with me to class?

Great question! We recommend bringing the following items:

  • Yoga mat
  • Towel
  • Water

Don’t have a yoga mat yet? Don’t sweat it- we have one for you to rent for $1! Hot power yoga is a sweaty adventure, and the more you sweat the more slippery your mat will get, so we suggest bringing a towel with you.

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that you don’t mind sweating in. You may want to bring a change of clothing for after class.

What is the temperature of the room?

Our yoga studio is heated between 85-90 degrees. This is a fun, sweaty practice. The temperature of the room, combined with the physical intensity of the practice will cause you to sweat and burn calories and fat. You will get in the best shape you have ever been in if you stick with it! Drink plenty of water before and after your practice so you stay hydrated.

What is Baptiste Yoga?

Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga stands for leadership, community, service, possibility and transformation both on and off the mat.

Baptiste Power Yoga has 3 main elements:

  • Asana – the physical practice of yoga postures
  • Meditation – the practice of focusing the mind
  • Inquiry – the practice of self-transformation

These 3 elements encourage students to step into their full potential by discovering their passions, creativity, and developing the confidence to step into new possibilities. It truly is the ultimate wake up call.

What if I’m stiff or out of shape?

Join the club! We were, too, when we took our first yoga class. Accept where you are and just get started. The hardest part is getting onto your mat for the first time. Beginners are welcome in any of our classes and we will give you modifications to support you. You don’t have to be “super bendy” to do this practice, and our friendly yoga instructors will help you build strength and flexibility at a pace that best suits you.

What time should I arrive for class?

For your first visit, please arrive at least 15 minutes early. This will give you ample time to register at the front desk, fill out a new- student waiver, and become better acquainted with our teachers, staff, and studio. It’s always a good idea to arrive early for class so that you can sign in, say hi to your friends, and get settled on your mat and be ready to roll!
